I told you so...

Yea...so in the summer of 2007, Cas Haley (see blog posts below) was convinced to audition for America's Got Talent on NBC. It went well. Cas was the runner-up on the show to ventriloquist Terry Fator, who has gone on to his own theater at a major hotel/casino on the Vegas strip. This has resulted in multiple tours across the United States, even bringing Cas and some other friends from Texas through the District's vicinity (Jammin' Java in Vienna, VA is kinda metro accessible).

I would like to point out the dates on my posts about Cas and the fact that I was fortunate enough to get to know Cas and his music before he burst onto the national scene (make that the world scene, I think at one point he had the #2 reggae album on the British chart). I took a lot of pictures and videos, because I knew this would happen.

About Cas Haley, I would like to state for the record:

I told y'all so.

There. Now please understand that this is written with a very tongue-in-cheek voice, so don't think that I am an egomaniac. I am merely trying to call more attention to Cas Haley.

So, to recap:
Me: "Cas = Awesome."
Me = not an egomaniac.
Me, Me, Me, Me, Me.

Thank you for reading,

Me

Woodbelly

So...I was reading the original posts I made back in 2005 when I first started this blog. I wrote about Woodbelly, at the time a band new to me. Counting that first show, I've now seen them (or Cas Haley, the lead singer either solo or with Ned Lane or with Fishing For Comets) close to 20 times. Hands down one of the sickest Dallas bands out there now! I wrote about them and took pictures and video relentlessly when I still lived in Dallas...I almost never missed show.

But don't take my word for it:

Here's "I Loved You All Along"

Here's "Waheeni"

Here's "Wagonwheel" with Travis Brink, Camille Cortinas & Cas Haley (Cas & Travis are AKA Ned Lane)

Here's Cas Haley performing "I'm Blue & Lonesome Too" solo

I hope you dig them as much as I do...if you have the chance to see them live, DO!

Oh Yea...

OH YEA! Almost forgot, its my sister's 23rd birthday...the rest of my family is in Chicago for the weekend, but I still haven't colored that state red (see below).

sooo...

Happy Birthday Kimberly! Try to stay warm!

Anyway...back to work/the NBA Slam Dunk Contest for real this time! (and happy birthday to contest judge Michael Jordan) (since he is an avid reader of my blog...or so I assume)

Also, tonight is a repeat on Saturday Night Live of the latest J-Tizzle episode (Justin Timberlake) that gave us this gem:

(really, I am getting used to the new blogger software)

Cool Website

I found this website through a friend while I was distracted from a lot of school work that I should be working on. The nations in red are the ones that I have visited...

Same thing here, just with states...

OK...back to work!

Coming Back...

I am going to resurrect this blog! (when I have time...)

From late April 2006 to July/August 2006, I wrote a blog called On Tour In My Own Bed for a music website out of Dallas, TX called www.Texasgigs.com. Texasgigs has since been absorbed by www.PegasusNews.com, a hyper-local news site. I really like their model and I think it can flourish in the right setting, but in August 2006, I left Dallas for our nation's capital, Washington, DC (which is not in any definition of local for north Texas).

I really dig the District and I am still seeing lots of live music in my free time, so I want to keep my blogging going...when I can, since school takes up the vast majority of my time now. I am a political science student in the School of Public Affairs at American University.

On Tour In My Own Bed has now been absorbed by A Peek Inside Michael's Coconut...

not that it makes a difference...its still just my interpretation of the world anyway

hope you enjoy...
